What is the difference between a class room course or a similar course by studying and taking long distance examination online? Are online degree, diploma or certification courses recognized?

Well, both have got its merits as well as its warts.

    Characteristics of classroom courses are:-

When attending classroom educational courses and programs, you will have the peace of mind that you are actually attending a traditional teaching course although it is just psychological.

You are able to interact and ask questions with your course instructors and teachers.

You will have classmates to discuss issues pertaining to your lessons.

The downsides of classroom educational courses are:-

Classroom courses are much more expensive than online courses because to conduct the courses, the institution you are attending have much higher over costs such as offering its facilities and staff maintaining them.

There is also traveling time to be taken into consideration which is unproductive time loss.

Characteristics of online educational courses are:-

You have the comfort of studying and taking exams from home. Certainly very beneficial for busy people like you.

You save money because online educational courses are much less expensive. This in turn can give you an opportunity to take up a course which you may not be able to afford if the course is offered only on attending classroom lessons.

You will be able to enroll for courses not available near where you live. That is online educational courses are also know as long distance learning.

You have the liberty to decide when to take online examinations since exams can be taken as and when you are ready. However, there is a risk that you may not take the exam because there is no pressure to do so.

You save traveling time from having to travel to classrooms for lessons.

The downsides of taking online courses are:-

The perception that online courses are inferior although many top educational institutions are offering top quality online courses.

Those online education examinations are of a lower quality. Again this may be another misconception because many quality institutions offering both online and classroom education programs set the same examination questions for both their classroom and online students. Even the markers of the examinations are the academics.

My opinion is that enrolling for online educational courses is much more sensible. Many people doubt the effectiveness of the online courses because of the mindset that traditional courses are better. This mindset was created when we were young and attending schools was the way we were brought up. Today, many educational lessons are now conducted online because of advance technologies which were then unavailable.

Critics cited that online courses had no teachers to guide the students. Now, let me ask the critics a question. Since all instructions are on the course materials, why should there be a need for someone to guide you and you pay good money for that? The course study materials are for you to study and most of the time you can email your educators should you have any questions. Therefore, the critic’s argument is only for psychological peace of mind.

However, you must be prudent in choosing your long distance learning online educators. This is because since many people have the perception that long distance online education is inferior, then choosing reputable educators and institutions will help to dispel such discrimination.

Learning Styles – The All-Essential Guide.

People have different learning styles, and it sure can be very helpful to identify your own. Although a number of people can use enough learning styles to be able to fare pretty well in school, there are some people who have different strengths and weaknesses in different area.

For instance, a person with a visual learning style is likely to do very well when looking at diagrams, pictures, or text in a book. Visual learning styles might even have a photographic memory in some cases, which will allow them to remember practically anything at all that they have seen even once. Although all of the different learning styles have their advantages and disadvantages, visual learners are perhaps best adapted to a standard education environment.

For sure, the auditory learning style is also relatively essential for classroom achievement, and students who can not learn auditorily are very often at quite a disadvantage when in the traditional classroom setting. The fact is auditory learners do their best work when either listening to instruction, or taking in information through their ears. Of all of the learning styles, auditory learners tend to order things most sequentially, their memories having the habit of cuing themselves up to the sequence of sounds.

If you are a kinesthetic learner, you may be in for trouble when you are dealing with the public school system, as you will not be able to grasp through visual and auditory learning styles – the two most important styles in modern education. In the case of kinesthetic learners, a person would preferably like to get things through touch and texture, through actually moving and doing something rather than absorbing it passively. Those who have this learning style in fact do quite well as mechanics, construction workers, or artists, as they are so thoroughly cued in to issues of touch. Of all of the learning styles, they have the best grasp of the physical world – it just simply comes intuitively for them.

If you are thinking about your learning style, or perhaps of your child who might be holding him or her, or you back, it is surely best to get them evaluated by a competent education consultant. There are several people who are skilled at testing learning styles, and might be able to help you find more effective ways to learn your lessons, which in turn will greatly improve your educational opportunities. The educational system is taught as if there were only one way to learn, but in reality it is much different than that. There are a number of learning styles, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.

    Insider’s guide to admissions

How to get into the best college for you.

Douglas Christiansen, Vanderbilt University’s associate provost for enrollment and dean of admissions, who has spent the last 20 years in admissions leadership roles in both public and private universities, helps clear some of the mystery and misconceptions surrounding the admissions process in this video.

In a series of short and direct video clips, Christiansen tackles questions such as, “How should I prepare for my college essay—what if I’m not the greatest writer?” “My parents have decent jobs, but we haven’t saved much for college. What are my chances of getting financial aid?” “As an admissions insider, what tips can you give to help me sound my best in my application?”

Christiansen also talks about when extracurricular activities can actually hurt an applicant and how to ease the stress surrounding the admissions process.

Planning Your Education Travel Tour or Trip

Students of all ages are among the largest groups of people who partake in educational travel tours. In fact, it’s common for the locals who live in large cities to regularly see groups of students that are obviously visiting from other cities or countries in hopes of learning new things.

Visiting new cities can provide educational experiences for students because it allows them to see historical sites, to learn their way around unfamiliar places and to see how things work and run in other parts of the world.

Many times, large groups of students are accompanied on travel tours by teachers from the students’ school. Some teachers may be experts in particular subjects, which makes them good tour guides and excellent sources of information once the group arrives at their destination. Other times, a group of students will travel with teachers, parents and chaperones to a particular city, knowing that a tour guide (usually arranged through a travel company catering to students traveling for the purpose of education) will meet them, guide them and teach them for the duration of their stay.

While it’s always educational to travel to any new city simply because new locations provide students with different glimpses into life in various places, there are a few particular cities in the United States that are the most popularly visited.

Young people often travel to the following cities for educational student tours: Boston, Chicago, Orlando, Hawaii and New York City.

    Boston
Boston is one of the most frequently visited cities for students because this city played a very important role in the history and development of the United States. The Freedom Trail, in particular, is not only a source of entertainment for students, but it is also a way for them to learn about historical sites, battlegrounds and the heroes who helped to form the United States into a free country.

    Chicago
Chicago is home to many famous museums, cultural events and historical sites. Students commonly travel to Chicago for educational purposes because it is a large and centrally located city – as compared to cities on either the East or the West Coast.

    Orlando
When people think of Orlando, Disney World normally comes to mind. Included in Disney, is Epcot – which is filled with all sorts of educational and scientific things to see and explore.

Disney offers many courses for students that are educational in nature. One of the most popular tours offered is called the “Youth Education Series,” which is a program that allows students to learn about many different subject areas while still being able to enjoy and experience Orlando and all it has to offer.

    Hawaii
Students normally love the idea of a trip to Hawaii and the fact that there are many educational student tours available make it even more exciting. Learning all about the eight islands that make up Hawaii as a whole, seeing Pearl Harbor and visiting and learning about the various volcanoes on Hawaii are just a few of the educational attractions.

    New York City
New York, New York is one of the most highly visited cities among educational student tour groups. Not only do student groups from within the United States visit New York City, but student groups from all over the world often choose New York City as their destination of choice. In New York City, there are world renowned museums, the theater, cultural neighborhoods and many more attractions that can provide an educational experience not available anywhere else.

PROM. Terrifying, right?  The cost, the danger of having your son or daughter out into the wee hours of the morning—it’s enough to drive a parent crazy.  When my daughter first approached me about going to prom with her boyfriend, I at first balked at her suggestion to rent a limo.  I figured New York limo rentals would be extravagant and unnecessary.  But then I did some research, and in the end, it wasn’t so bad. In the process, I discovered that hiring a limo service was the best way to keep my daughter happy and safe on her special night. I have boiled down what I learned into 10 simple tips. These should not only help other parents decide whether or not to rent a limo, but also show them how to do it.

Renting a limo = built in chaperone! An implied benefit of renting a lime is RENTING A DRIVER!  Who wouldn’t want an extra adult around your children on prom night?!  They can help to make sure the prom is good CLEAN fun for your son or daughter.

It’s easy. Just type “new york limousine” or “nyc limo” into Yodle Local or Google and you’re barraged with a whole bunch of potential providers.  It’s easy to compare prices and amenities if you’re persistent in clicking.

If your kid can scrounge up a lot of friends, it’s pretty cheap. Trying to convince my daughter to invite her friends wasn’t hard at all, and that way, they all split the price.  Other parents were excited to go in with me on the price because it meant their kids would be safe.

However, you should have a say in who is invited. If one kid pukes in the car or breaks the stereo, the credit card holder is charged!  Make sure both you and your kid trusts all the invites.

Renting a limo means renting an adult, professional driver. There was NO WAY I was going to let my daughter be driven by her boyfriend at night, no matter how much I like him.  Just think of how many irresponsible drivers are on the streets on Prom night.  I felt much safer knowing there was a licensed professional at the wheel.

Don’t overfill the limo! When a limo company says that their load capacity is 10, that means 10 MAX.  Remind everyone that they will be all dressed up, and they won’t want to sit on each other and ruffle up their flowing dresses and tux tails, especially when they’re trying to look pretty.

Be sure to get a contract. If you don’t have one, there is no way to insure that your limo will actually show up.

Call early! Keep in mind that it’s Prom season.  A lot of kids will want to rent limos.  Call early for the best deals.

Pricing is available. There are all different kinds of limo services out there.  Some have stretch Hummers and some have old jalopies.  It all depends on the image your kid wants to project.

Your kid will be happy. This is their night.  Usually, it’s their last real blow out before their childhood is effectively over (unless they go to college).  You’re guaranteed to make it a night they won’t forget if you’re flexible on their transportation there.  It’s all the details that go into making an incredible experience.

And after you’ve braved the New York limo rentals waters for your child’s prom, consider renting a limo for yourself!  There are tons of New York limousine tours that you could get info on—to casinos, around town—pretty much anywhere!

Getting Ready to Select a GI Bill College or University

ArrowDown2RedPlease Click the Blue Banner Below to Claim Your Free Guide…

    mil2

You are in your final year of your military career, and you don’t know what to do with your life. You know you want to go to university, but which university? Don’t panic, confusion is a common affliction among GI Bill veterans. You have another three or six months to make a decision—plenty of time, right? You better get on with the research now.

First, you have to research yourself. Do not google your name, introspection is enough. What are your interests? What are your career aspirations? If you truly have no idea, ask your friends and teachers. Often, others know you better than you know yourself. Online personality and career quizzes may also be of aid. Narrow your interests down to one or two fields.

Having decided what you want to study, research the best GI Bill universities for that field.

What you are interested in studying is not the only thing to consider. The campus environment is also integral to effective learning. Do you prefer to study in a busy, urban atmosphere, with lots of concrete and steel, or a laid-back, quiet haven with lots of trees and grass? Are you looking for lectures with five, six hundred people, or small intimate discussions?

But the most definitive way to decide whether the campus and the place are good for you is to visit. Most universities have several open houses, days specifically designated for high school students to visit. You’ll be paired up with a university student, who will show you the campus and take you to lectures. You can’t make a good decision if you haven’t seen the campus for yourself.

On your tour, ask yourself a few questions. Do students here seem focused? Are the classes too big, too small? Do the professors seem approachable? Are students here friendly? Can you see yourself going to school here and using your GI Bill benefits you worked so hard to earn, serving your country?

Vocational rehabilitation for GI Bill individuals that do not necessarily have military affiliations is set up on a state-by-state basis under Federal guidelines. GI Bill funding is obtained through the Federal government with a legislated match by each state. Vocational rehabilitation (VR) services include things like provision of assistive technology, medical and psychiatric intervention to improve work-readiness, on-the-job supports to help an individual acclimate to a work setting and requirements of the job, job assistance, vocational training, college education related to employment preparation, and GI Bill VR counseling and guidance. VR services may begin as early as the senior year of high school.

Aside from the Coast Guard, the Air Force has the highest ASVAB AFQT score requirements for enlistment than any other branch of military service. If you are taking the Airforce ASVAB, you will need a minimum AFQT score of 36 if you have a high school diploma and a 65 if you hold a GED.

The minimum ASVAB AFQT score for Army and Navy is 31, Marines a 32 and the Coast Guard requires a 40 for enlistment qualification.

The Air Force offers a guaranteed job to about forty percent of their new active duty recruits. Most enlistees are asked to choose one of four aptitude areas from the beginning, and later assigned to a particular job within that category.

Air Force Job Categories & Scoring Requirements

The four categories are Mechanical, Administrative, General and Electronics and their system is referred to as MAGE.

If you want a Mechanical job assignment, you will need to do well on the General Science (GS), Mechanical Comprehension (MC) and Auto & Shop (AS). The formula for the Mechanical score on the Airforce ASVAB is MC + GS + 2xAS ( so Auto & Shop is particularly important for a good Mechanical job assignment.

If you want an Administrative job assignment, you need a good Verbal Expression (VE) score, which is derived from you Word Knowledge (WK) and Paragraph Comprehension (PC) scores.

If you want a good General job assignment, you want to maximize your Arithmetic Reasoning (AR) score in addition to the highest possible Verbal Word Knowledge (WK) and Paragraph Comprehension (PC) scores you can get.

An Electronics job assignment is probably the coolest job assignment you can get but it is also the hardest area to qualify for. The Air Force looks at General Science (GS), Arithmetic Reasoning (AR), Mathematics Knowledge (MK) and Electronics Information (EI) scores for an Electronics assignment.

    Retaking the Airforce ASVAB

The Air Force allows retesting for the purpose of improving an applicant’s ASVAB scores to enhance enlistment options. They may let you take the test again if your MAGE scores make it difficult to assign you to a particular area.

The Air Force even lets you retake the ASVAB if you already qualify for enlistment and job assignment. You have to show up for face-to-face or telephone interview with the recruiting flight officer, who has the authority to approve your retest.

The Air Force does not, however, allow retesting when the applicant has previously enlisted under the DEP, or is holding an aptitude area reservation.

Your GI Bill Government benefits has changed, and these changes can make a big difference in the amount of money you could receive for you education. This makes it very important for you to understand the differences, so that you select the program that is best for you.

The major difference in your benefits is the addition of the Post 9/11 GI Bill, which in most cases is a better option than other educational benefits such as the Montgomery GI Bill.

Here are the differences between the two Bills mentioned above.

The Post 9/11 Bill will pay directly to the school you select all tuition and fees up to the cost of the most expensive state Institution of Higher Education of the Sate the school you select resides.

You will also be entitled to a housing allowance that is based on an E-5 with dependence. The amount is based on the zip code of the school you will be attending.

You will also receive a stipend of up to $1,000 for books annually.

This compared to the monthly allowance of $1,321 paid by the Montgomery GI Bill makes the Post 9/11 Bill look to be the best choice, but there are other factors to consider.

One such thing to consider is, some States the cost of tuition and housing would be less than the $1,321 monthly allowance you would receive under the Montgomery Bill., therefore making it the best choice.

There are also States that have Colleges that do not charge Veterans tuition, and this might also make the Montgomery Bill more appropriate.

While the new Post 9/11 GI Bill is a great benefit, because it gives you more options, it also makes it very important that you do your homework before you select a school.

You will only have one chance to make the correct selection between the two Bills, and once you make that choice you can not change your mind.

The easiest way to make the right choice is to contact Military friendly schools within the Sate that you want to attend classes, and allow them to help you pick the Bill that will pay you the most benefits.

Military friendly Schools will have staff that understands the different GI Bill Government programs, and it is in their best interest to help you make the right decision.

You earned these benefits by serving your Country and below you will find a link to a resource that will put you in contact with a list of Schools that will be honored to help.

Mike Considine has done extensive research on gibill gov benefits and where to find the best Military friendly schools.
